I received an email today from a Newsvine user who came across a comment I left in a Nintendo Revolution -> Wii article. The email speaks for itself.
Hello,
I submitted your comment found here
to Cnet’s Buzz Out Loud podcast (on iTunes, or on Cnet’s site), and it was featured in episode “BuzzCast 04/28/06 - How to fake an entire company” at minute 25:20.I gave you full credit (the email I sent is enclosed below), but they did not read your name or the name of the site (newsvine).
I just wanted you to know incase you came across it or someone else did (not sure who’s theory it was, but you are the only person I have heard mention it).
Cheers,
Rodolfo

Subject: Wii = “V”…?…
Ok, so I came across this interesting tidbit, but I don’t know if it’s true. Below is the comment followed by the page link (gotta give credit where it’s due):
Ever heard a Japanese person try to say “V”?
It sounds like “Wee”
V = Roman Numeral for 5
NES, SNES, N64, GC, Wii (5)
*This was Animosity’s comment on the following Newsvine article:
http://dturnbull.newsvine.com/_news/2006/04/27/179994-nintendo-revolution-gets-an-official-name-nintendo-wii#c109313
Considering the afore-named Revolution is the 5th console from Nintendo, might they have purposely named it after a mis-pronunciation? The world may never know.
Here’s a link to the podcast.
